Day of Consultation
The purpose of the consultation is to determine what the problem is and what to do about it.
Prior to the visit, your veterinarian should already have filled out and submitted the Veterinarian Referral Form.
Please bring your pet with you. Fasting is generally not necessary unless prior arrangements have been made.
Be prepared to answer questions about the problem for which your pet is being seen. That is, how long has it been going on? Is it getting better or worse? Are other pets in the household affected? Have any therapies been attempted and what sort of response was seen? Is there anything that exacerbates the problem?
Are there any relatives with the same problem? Write down the names of any medications or supplements your pet is receiving and their doses.
Day of Surgery
Preoperative preparation will vary from patient to patient. However, most patients will need to be fasted after the evening meal prior to surgery. Water can be offered until the morning of the procedure. If the patient is receiving oral medications, they should be withheld the morning of surgery unless instructed otherwise by your veterinarian.
